Abstract

According to the master urban plan of Ho Chi Minh City for the year of 2020, the urban area of the city will be expanded, making it a big concentrated city. The disadvantages of this urban type are air pollution and temperature increase. The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of landuse change by 2020 on the thermal environment. The used numerical model in this study is a weather mesoscale, MM5. The simulated results indicate that the average temperature will continuously increase in the next decades. The increase of built-up land area increases the temperature not only in the new developing zone but also in the existing zone.
