Abstract

This study describes Vietnamese exports of three main agricultural products (rice, coffee, Panga catfish) in recent years. Through a review of trade barriers, especially technical barriers, the study suggests some important technology-related solutions that Vietnamese agri-business corporates can utilize to enhance their products’ competitiveness in the global market. High technology should be employed more popularly in agricultural production.Chemical, bio- or nano-technology can be applied in seed breeding, disease prevention which meet international standards or in the field of rural environment protection. Mechanical, automation and information technology can be applied in harvesting, storing and processing agricultural products as well in productionand business management.
