Abstract

The article is likely a presentation of a research on translation theory. It involves the topic, methodology and the outcomes of the research. The research question that has been chosen is “How does the application of Roger T. Bell's model of translation process (1991) result in better translated texts?”. So far, from intensive theoretical research, no research or researcher has ever explored the area. The researcher has followed the descriptive approach as the research design for the study to formulate the relationship between the independent variables (the application of Bell's translation process) and dependent variable (the quality of the translated texts). With such a design, research activities have included theoretical and empirical research. The theoretical research was done with resources available in Can tho University and from the Internet. The results from the data collection and upon data analysis have been formulated as research findings. The application of the model of translation process suggested by Bell enhances the quality of the translations. In light of doing research, the findings provided would be helpful for translators. It contributes to the role of theory in practice.
