Abstract

According the national climate change scenarios, sea level rise causes not only flooding but also salt water intrusion and impacts severely on rice production. This paper demonstrates the use the integration solution of GIS for managing data, assessing impacts due to sea level rise and forecasting the salinity information at the local scale for Tra Vinh province. Toolkit set is established including 04 major functions: System administrator, Modeling, To create automatic reports and Utilities for updating. Results of this study showed that this proposed solution can be able to provide the information in forecasting the salinity (area, impact level, duration), from the general scale (province, district) to detail information and necessary data (wards, parcels of land). In addition, the developed toolkit set help local government view easily the information and necessary data related to rice production vulnerability and create suitable measures in monitoring and assessing the impacts of sea level rise.
