Abstract

This paper describes a simulated annealing based search strategy for the simultaneous optimization of planar strusses with respect to size and topology variables. The topology optimization of trusses is formulated in terms of the ground structure approach, the objective chosen is to minimize the weight of structures under a set of particular constraints on nodal displacement, member stress and stability.
