Abstract

Managing water supply pipe network system of a large city to satisfy the demands on discharge, pressure and water quality to different types of usage in an effective manner is not so simple. This requires the integration of realms of management and technique. The technology, that is applied in this paper to solve the problem, is the integrated mathematical modelling of Hydraulics and GIS, namely HYDGIS. This kind of modelling is able to manage effectively the objects of pipe network using visual digital map, to be userfriendly for data input and presentation of the results. Besides, the hydraulic program provides the computed results on the distribution of discharge in the pipe branches, the pressure at the nodes, and the operating situation of water supply network system.
