Abstract

This paper presents a advanced lightning current model which has the high compatibility with the international standards and also evaluates the protection performance of MV arresters and required LV arrester's installation to protect LV equipment during direct lightning strikes to overhead MV distribution lines. The advanced lightning current model has been made in Matlab environment to create favorable conditions for transient analysis of electrical power system.
