Abstract

Based on trustworthy historical evidence, the author presents an account of the development of the land ownership regime in Cochinchina and its characteristics in the period between the beginning of the 17th century and the end of the first half of the 19th century. Research results show that the Vietnamese people, through the process of cultivating the wilderness, have established their ownership of the most important means of production - the cultivated land in Cochinchina.
