Abstract

We used PCR and SSCP (Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism) methods to detect point mutations in a 830 bp-fragment of pbp2x gene in 20 Streptococcus pneumoniae penicillin-resistant strains. Results showed that all the strains investigated bore more than two nucleotide modifications compared with the susceptible one.
