Abstract

We set up a protocol to screen and determine antimitotic activities of plant extracts. The two-step protocol consists of: (1) screening of active substances through cytotoxic effect in Artemia saline, (2) antimitotic effect determination on human tumour cell lines. Applied on two plant substances, gossypol and plumbagin, the protocol shows close relationship between results obtained in the two steps and could be used to efficiently detect antimitotic substances
