Abstract

Discussion on the origin of earth sliding at the localities surrounding Thanh Da point - bar has been rised by several previous authors (3 - 5). That is the synthesis of many factors concerning the topograply of a low depression, the geological structure of a very young age (Holocene). The meandering of the Saigon river, the regime of water stream deeply influenad by tide and water quantity changes during both rainy and dry seasons. Conditions of frydro geology have closed relations with the hydraulic pressure on water level and tide. Conditions of geological building are not favourable because of their mechanico - physical properties concerning the weak soil forendation, the intraction made by men that narrows the stream width, lowers water level, in creases stream velocity and overload the natural level by over loading and building. All of the alove - mentioned conditions are potential. The sliding often happens during 6 months of rainy season, mainly at nigth or early morning. This suggests the high static hydro - pressure of water and dynamic hydro pressure of water in soil, that have a special role in the factor causing the accidental slidings during the previous times. In this paper, the author focus his view into the analysis of the role hydraulic pressure and dynamic hydro-pressure and shows how these influence the processus of ear sliding.
