Abstract

A pilot-scale Anaerobic Digestion Tank of 5 m2/day flow rate had been set up and operated for two years to treat rubber waste water having COD and BOD concentrations of about 9500 mg/L and 6500 mg/L, respectively. Raw coconut fibre was used as a medium for attached microorganisms in the tank. The results showed that using a hydraulic retention time of 2 days, this model could remove about 90% COD and 90% BOD from the above wastewater.
