Abstract

A procedure for determining the effects of vibration on the shear strength of cohesion soil was described in this paper. Low frequency vertical vibrations were carried out and were applied to a modified shearbox. The operating cyclic normal forces and strain-controlled shearing were applied in order to ensure a better condition of stress around a subsoil element. Data were collected electronically and some results of frequency domain analysis were used. The undrained shear strength envelops of prepared soil samples were carefully plotted and other experimental studies on undisturbed soils could be performed using the same method. Results obtained in dynamic test were compared with those on direct shear test.
