Abstract

Based on the turbulent diffusion flame model (the steady flame), a multi zone one dimensional model of mixing controlled, heterogeneous combustion phase in Direct Injection Diesel Engines is established. The distribution of the fuel, oxygen and the fuel mass burning rate are calculated in accordance with each section of the flame in the combustion chamber (the unsteady flame). The results agree well with the experimental data obtained in an engine having a large optical access and in an industrial engine.
