ORIENTATION TO ESTABLISH GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR PLANNING TOURIST LOCALITIES IN THE MEKONG DELTA

Abstract

Geographic Information System (GIS) is the progressive technology for planning effectively tourist localities. One of the meaningful tasks is establishing basic duta on tourist; in fact the exploitation of potentialities here is limitted, therefore establishing geographic information system for planning tourist localities is a premise to make out reasonable orientations to promote the development of tourism in the Mekong Delta, us well as 10 contribute to protecting local environment. On the basis of theory of geographic information system the witer suggests a structural diagram of Geographic Information System on the Mekong Delta tourism with 4 kinds of classified informatin : the background maps, the potentialities of tourism, and the plans for tourist localities. These kinds of information are used for identifying main tourist in the area and as a foundution to plan tourist localities in the Mekong Delta.
