Abstract

As held in classic schools, the form of a word could be its variants with similar lexical meanings but different grammatical meanings or its senses could be reflected through its allomorphs. With this concept, only in inflectional languages could word forms exist. Contemporary linguistics points out that words in analytical and uninflectional languages do bear very diversed sytems of forms reflected with the help of various means, namely, auxiliary verbs, word reduplication, and word order. Thus the notions of modality, word forms could be highlighted in both synthetic and uninflectional languages.
