Abstract

Four lignans were isolated from the dried root of Pseuderanthemum carruthersii (Seem.) Guill. var. atropurpureum (Bull.) Fosb. (Acanthaceae), including (+)-eudesmin (1), (+)-magnolin (2), (+)-syringaresinol (3) and (+)-episyringaresinol (4). Their chemical structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods as well as comparing with data in the literature. These substances were isolated for the first time from this genus.
