Abstract

Ho Quy Ly was Vietnam's great reformer by the close of the 14th century and at the dawn of the 15th century. Ho Quy Ly's reform thoughts are reflected in all areas, in which educational reform was of immense value. He advocated opening schools in the region, criticizing the Sung and Confucian systems of thought, giving prominence to a way of learning which was bound up with reality. He undertook the elevation of the Chinese-transcribed Vietnamese to the national language status. He wrote books, translated Confucian classic works into Chinese transcribed Vietnamese to serve the learning needs. His ideology and accomplishments in the domain of educational reform have achieved historical recognition.
