Abstract

Engine exhaust gases can be treated by the catalyst box made of CeO2 coated ceramic. In this study, Ni-CeO2 particles composite were coated on the working surface of the catalyst box by electroplating. Cesi dioxide was crushed in the mortar and ceramic ball for 48 h. The nanomicro size of the particles was confirmed by TEM and particle size distribution analysis. Ni-CeO2 composite coating was obtained by electroplating of Watt nickel solution with the addition of 4-8 g/l CeO2 at cathode current density of 1-2 A/dm2 and temperature of 40-50 oC. EDX analysis show that the CeO2 content in the coating is about 6%, which is equivalent to the content of CeO2 in the conventinal products.
