Abstract
The essential oil of aerial part of Cosmos caudatus HBK, grown in Trang Bang, Tay Ninh, was isolated by using classical and microwave irradiation hydrodistillation. The oil yields of the different parts and the age were also studied. The physical and chemical index of the oils were measured. GC/MS analysis of the oil’s chemical composition (classical hydrodistillation) showed that the main constituents were β-caryophyllene (14,1%) and epibicyclosesquiphellandrene (21,8%). The antibacterial property of these oils was determined.
