Abstract
Ag-Cd alloys are deposited in an electroplating bath containing potassium cyanide and alizarin oil under suitable conditions. The influences of additives, [Ag+]/[Cd2**] ratio, current density and temperature on the deposit composition and cathode current efficiency were investigated. The resistance to abrasion, hardness, and contact resistance of the electrodeposited Ag-Cd coating depend on Ag content in alloy. The Ag content in alloy should be used from 45% to 60% for slide-contact points and from 70% to 90% for fixed contact points.
