Abstract

Nano-sized powders of TiO2 with crystallite sizes less than 16 nm and surface areas up to 48m2/g have been prepared from ilmenite ore, in which the thermal hydrolysis process carried out with microwave heating. This paper investigates the influences of concentration of Ti(IV) in hydrolysis solution on surface properties of titania. The products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the Brunauer Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurement. The results show that the concentration of Ti(IV) have a lot of influences upon the properties of nanosized TiO2.
