Abstract

The industrial Cobalt-60 irradiator, SVST-Co 60/B at Research and Development Center for Radiation Technology has been mainly used for pasteurization of dried and frozen foods. The paper presents the calculation results of absorbed dose in a tote box of the irradiator at the product densities of 0.1 g/cm3, 0.2 g/cm3, 0.3 g/cm3 and 0.4 g/cm3 by using the code package MCNP4C2. Based on the gained results the important parameters of the irradiator such as the dose distribution in a tote box, the ratio of dose inhomogeneity have been calculated. These parameters are very useful and helpful for operation and exploitation of the irradiator in the service of food irradiation at the Center.
