Abstract

Reverse Engineering is the process of generating a CAD model from an existing physical object. It was originally used to overcome the obstacle in engineering that many components exist with no corresponding CAD model, especially when dealing with old, out-of-production parts. Now, Reverse Engineering is being developed as a new method in mold design. This paper will briefly outline the process of Reverse Engineering and introduce our experiment on recreating the shape of a plastic bottle sample.
