Abstract

The paper investigates the nature as well as the relationships among key categories of information, that have not been made clear yet in the IS literature. Based on Peirce's pragmatic theory of knowledge, exploring the process of information formation, the paper proposes a semiotic model of information to show both the evolutionary nature and the triadic relation among the phenonmena of information. The proposed model then is used to develop a conceptual framework which is general enough to differentiate among these categories. The case of virtual clinic of management consultancy at BR&T, HCM University of Technology, Vietnam is used to illustrate the model operation.
