Abstract

Nowadays, benefits of electronic commerce and competitive pressure caused by Vietnam's joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO), make it necessary for an increasing great number of businesses to apply the electronic commerce. In order to reduce the risk of investment in electronic commerce, the management needs to know the electronic commerce readiness level for their own business. Having an assessment tool of electronic commerce readiness becomes necessary. This paper aims at comparison of tools in a more detailed level, popular used assessment methods, types of assessment result, and at evaluating synthetical tools. Some lessons are extracted from that evaluation. Lastly, this paper suggests three tools that could be used in Vietnam and a set of criterion for creating an overall and fexible assessment tools of electronic commerce readiness for companies.
