Abstract

Parallel processing is the key to fulfill the high demands on computational resources in scientific computing. This has further pushed researches in High Performance Computing into the mainstream. Numerous powerful computing systems are then born. Especially, low-cost powerful clusters, which are set up by connecting many personal computers/workstations via a high speed network, were developed rapidly during the last decade. Several parallel applications essentially require the availability of all necessary resources before executed on clusters. Advanced reservation is a service that ensure the availability of resources for such applications. Therefore, we built an advanced reservation service and integrated it into the Portable Batch System. We will present the service in this paper.
