Abstract

This article introduces the results of studying for extracting the contour of irregular two-dimensional shapes from their scanner images by using a computer. Base on flat geometric- mathematical forms and computer graphics theory, the algorithm for extracting points on the contour of the shape and the algorithm for controlling or managing the array of continuous points on the contour are found out. This study dedicates a more efficient method for describing the contour of the shape. Of course, it saves the time and contributes to a number of industries automatically to solve nesting problem on cutting parts from sheet such as textile, mechanical, furniture industries.
